Purina has a lot of good supplements to top dress for your cattle. They also have a lot of good minerals if your steer is lacking anything. I personally have been a fan of the Champion Drive when I am feeding sheep to show, or the fitter 35 when I needed my goats to stay their weight they were.
When feeding a show steer I start them on Power Fuel only 4 ounces twice a day and I play around with it because you can tell when they are getting too much fat cover. Sometimes this top dress can affect the way they are eating so you want to make sure they are keeping their appetite up.
